Whitaker Farms
Brothers, Sam and Jim Whitaker, along with their wives, Alicia and Leslie, run Whitaker Farms, which is a multi-crop farming operation that also partners in several Ag-related businesses.
Their father, who farmed for over thirty years, left these hard working gentlemen with the task of continuing his legacy for their children and future generations. They have accomplished that goal and much more.
We have the privilege of partnering with Sam and Jim on the Baugh land. While the Whitakers grow several different crops throughout their acreage, they raise all the rice on our land.
Their attention to detail and commitment to producing a high quality product has brought the kind of success any farm would be proud to achieve. These couples have an unwavering passion for excellence in farming. As they constantly look for new and better ways to implement each aspect of their operation, they lead the nation in sustainability developments and bottom line results.
Since 1992, when Jim and Sam began their partnership, their level of productivity has brought national recognition to Whitaker Farms. By continually raising the bar, they have earned opportunities to speak to peer groups about improvements in farming practices and present their farm’s research at environmental conferences. Their farm was even named the 2012 National Rice Farmer of the Year.
I can’t wait for you to know more about this family. They have taught me so much about how farming has changed, especially since I was a child growing up on the land. I am continually amazed at their constant, intentional analysis of each decision they make.
Their ultimate goal is to support the land to produce at its most efficient capacity and leave it more replenished and ready for the next generation who will continue to bring healthy food to tables around the world.
