What People are Saying

We have hosted several groups at several farms over the past two years. Obviously, we love getting to take people to the farm to show them where nutrition begins—and we think it's an invaluable learning experience. But, don't take our word for it! If you're wondering if Connecting City to Farm could be helpful to your organization, take a look at what urban and agricultural partners have to say.

"Last school year we took two trips with CCTF to the Mississippi delta region of Arkansas, where our students were able to learn more about agriculture, how food is produced, and healthy nutritional choices. This is important to us since many of our students are at-risk for health deficits associated with poverty (diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, etc). Not only have these trips been a blast, but that have sparked conversation after conversation about nutrition and healthy living. We are excited for these young leaders to begin taking the steps necessary to transform community habits around health and nutrition, empowered by the knowledge and experiences gained with CCTF."

Jim Whitaker, Farmer, Whitaker Grain LLC

"I have worked with Connecting City to Farm for the last two years. This group is doing an amazing job of educating young people about agriculture. With only two percent of Americans living on the farm, it makes this a very important cause. Farmers need advocates to tell our stories.  Kris has done a outstanding job of communicating her passion for ag. Besides telling the story, she is personally mentoring several young people. CCTF also does a great job teaching health and wellness to the children on the retreats."

T.Mac Howard, Head of School, Delta Streets Academy

"Delta Streets Academy benefited greatly from our time with Connecting City to Farm in the delta of Arkansas. The opportunity opened our student's eyes on many different levels. Being able to process tangibly where our food comes from was worth the trip for our guys, and to see the process from start to finish, field to consumption, was an amazing learning experience for our students—everything from irrigation conservation to row crop to harvesting to processing. DSA is grateful for the opportunity and partnership with Connecting City to Farm."

Shinhye Chung, Farm Experience Leader, First Korean Baptist Church of Keller

"Our students really enjoyed visiting the Dineen's farm and The Yellow Farmhouse! It was a great experience for them, and they love to eat vegetables now. D's mom told me that D remembers the corn from the field every time they eat chips, and Joseph told me it was the best day ever!"

John Paul Dineen III, President, Ellis County Farm Bureau"It is important to have organizations like Connecting City to Farm that introduce youth and adults from the city to farmers who are raising their food and their fiber."
